Magnetic Welding Holders Mini Reviews
When it comes to welding fabrication, it seems like you never have enough clamps, and certainly not enough hands to hold the steel components in place. If you are dealing with small parts or irregular shaped assemblies, this further complicates the problem. One fast and easy solution is to use magnetic welding holders to secure the parts while you can tack them together. Magnetic welding holders are strong and can maintain a 90-degree angle during the fabrication process. I had a drawer full of them in my toolbox in my race shop. They are available in all shapes and sizes and here are a few of my favorites:
Must Have Magnetic Welding Holders
The ARKSEN Brand, Welding Magnet Support Jig Holder, should be on your list of must-have tools. This 4 pack of large 4” magnetic welding holders is one of my favorite tools. A couple of these heavy duty magnets is just what you need if you are trying to weld two pieces of sheet metal together and maintain a 90-degree or 45-degree angle. In fact, these magnets are great for holding two pieces of roll-cage tubing together as well. Notice how the red side plates extend beyond the recessed magnet? This unique design allows the magnet to align itself with the tubing in a self-centering fashion. The result is a perfectly perpendicular weld-joint every time.
Hot Max Swivel Magnet
Sometimes you need to hold some parts at an awkward angle. The Hot Max Swivel Magnet comes to the rescue. You can take advantage of the swivel action to hold objects in place while you lay down the perfect weld. The magnets are strong enough to hold just about any small parts in place as long as you’re not talking about heavy plates.
Magswitch Mini Angle Magnetic Clamp with On Off Switch
The handy ON-OFF switch on the Magswitch Mini Angle Magnetic Clamp makes it the perfect solution for holding lighter gauge delicate parts. It can prevent bending of thin sheet metal which can be an issue with other heavy clamps when you try to remove the clamp after welding. The Magswitch has a 90 LB holding force with fixed angles of 45 degrees, 60 degrees, 90 degrees, and 120 degrees. It can also be used to hold round pipe in place while welding. With the switch in the off position, the clamp sheds metallic debris that can be a nuisance with other clamps.
Pit Bull Adjustable Angle Welding Clamp
The Pit Bull adjustable angle welding holder is an affordable tool that every weld shop should have. It is ideal for assembly of small parts during the welding process. The versatile swivel arms will hold objects at pretty much any angle and can swivel a full 360 degrees. The Pit Bull is super strong, and can hold 125 LB parts in place while you weld. In fact, the magnet is so strong that you better keep it away from any small steel parts that aren’t tied down
